WESTMINSTER COLLEGE TO HOLD OPEN AUDITIONS FOR SOPHOCLES’ ‘OEDIPUS THE KING’

Westminster College will hold open auditions for the Classical Greek Theatre Festival’s production of Sophocles’ Oedipus the King on April 8-9 from 6-10 p.m. in the Dumke Student Theatre in the Emma Eccles Jones Conservatory.

On April 8, performers will audition with 16 bars of a song of their choice (a cappella), a monologue of their choice from a Greek play (no longer than two minutes in length), a group singing session and a group movement session. Callbacks, by invitation only, will be held on April 9. Performers should bring a current photo, résumé, references for theatre work and movement clothing.

Rehearsals for Oedipus the King will begin Aug. 5. The production dates are Sept. 6 at Westminster College; Sept. 14 at Zion National Park; Sept. 21-22 and Sept. 28-29 at Red Butte Garden; and Sept. 23 at Brigham Young University.
