UTAH SYMPHONY’S VLADIMIR KULENOVIC CHOSEN FOR BRUNO WALTER NATIONAL CONDUCTING SHOWCASE

Vladimir Kulenovic

The Utah Symphony’s associate conductor, Vladimir Kulenovic, is one of six young conductors chosen to direct the Jacksonville Symphony at the 2013 Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview, a conducting showcase organized by the League of American Orchestras. The preview is made possible by grants from the Bruno Walter Memorial Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

The showcase takes place every two years in partnership with a league member orchestra. This year’s event will be on March 13.

The five other conductors showcased this year are: Joshua David Gersen, music director of the New York Youth Symphony and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Conducting Fellow with the New World Symphony; Keitaro Harada, assistant conductor of the Arizona Opera and music director of the Phoenix Youth Symphony; Gavriel Heine, staff conductor at the Mariinsky Theater and music director of the Northern Lights Festival Opera in Minnesota; Sameer Patel, assistant conductor of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic; and Benjamin Rous, associate conductor of the Virginia Symphony.

The six were selected out of a group of more than 90 applicants. They were chosen for their experience, talent and potential, and for their commitment to assume a greater leadership role with an American orchestra.
