UTAH SYMPHONY HEADLINES THIS WEEKEND’S CONCERTS

Below is a list of some of this weekend’s concerts:

  • Dec. 7-8, 8 p.m., Utah Symphony: “Debussy and Ravel,” Jun Märkl, conductor, Pascal Rogé, piano, Debussy’s Petite Suite and Ibéria, Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G and Rapsodie espagnole, Abravanel Hall, $18-$67 general (tickets are $5 more on the day of the performance), see website for information regarding $10 youth tickets, grades 2-12, and $10 adult tickets, 30 years and under, 801-355-2787, 888-451-2787, www.utahsymphony.org.
  • Dec. 7-8, 7:30 p.m., 2 p.m. matinee: American Festival Chorus: Christmas from the Ellen Eccles Theatre,” Dr. Craig Jessop, artistic director and conductor, Jenny Oaks Baker and Alexandria Sharpe, guest artists, Ellen Eccles Theatre, Logan, $12-$20 general, www.americanfestivalchorus.org.
  • Dec. 7-9, 8 p.m. and 5 p.m.: Utopia Early Music: “Heaven to Earth: A German Baroque Christmas,” founders Emily Nelson, soprano, and Christopher LeCluyse, tenor, team up with Valerie Hart Nelson, mezzo-soprano, Tyler Nelson, tenor, Ricky Parkinson, bass, Leslie Henrie, violin, Rebekah Blackner, violin, Jonathan Rhodes-Lee and Christopher Wootton, organ, and Josh Lee, viola da gamba, Episcopal Cathedral of St. Mark, 231 E. 100 South, admission is free will payment (suggested $15 general, $12 seniors and $10 students) admission, at the door.
  • Dec. 8, 8 p.m., American West Symphony: “Christmas Spectacular,” Joel Rosenberg, conductor and music director, Kristofer Michaels, piano, music includes Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, selections from Handel’s Messiah, Natalie Sleeth’s Jazz Gloria, performance includes an audience carol sing-along, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 8775 S. 700 East, $10 general, $8 students, $5 youth 7-15 years, at the door.
  • Dec. 8, 7:30 p.m.: Salt Lake Choral Artist’s Chamber Choir: “Christmas Around the World,” Dr. Brady Allred artistic director and conductor, Park City Community Church, 4501 N. Highway 224, Park City, $10 general, $5 students, 801-232-7521, www.saltlakechoralartists.org, or at the door.
