SUMMER CHORAL INSTITUTE SCHEDULE

The Salt Lake Choral Artists have announced their fifth annual Summer Choral Institute. This year there will be four different three-day sessions starting June 16. Each session focuses on works by a particular composer, group or season. In addition, there will also be a six-day Disney music kids’ camp, in which youngsters will take part in classes in voice, movement/dance for the stage, acting and more. And as in the past, there will be a five-day choral conducting seminar led by Salt Lake Choral Artists’ music director Brady Allred.

Below is a listing and brief summary of each session:

June 16-18: “Beatles and Beyond” — music by the Beatles, the Carpenters and from the TV show “Glee!”

June 20-25: “Disney Spectacular Kids’ Camp!” – music from Disney films and Broadway shows; classes in voice, movement/dance for the stage, rhythm and acting.

June 20-24: Choral Conducting Seminar – Salt Lake Choral Artists’ music director Brady Allred will work with participants to improve their choral conducting skills.

June 23-25: “Disney Spectacular” – music from Disney movies, both classic and new releases, as well as from Broadway shows.

July 7-9: “America Sings/Music from the Salt Lake Tabernacle” – music consists of favorites from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

July 21-23: “Christmas in July” – music from the Advent and Christmas seasons, including pieces by John Rutter, Natalie Sleethe and Dan Forrest.
