QUARTET OF UTAH SYMPHONY MUSICIANS TO UNVEIL QUARTET OF INSTRUMENTS

Four Utah Symphony colleagues will play a concert of chamber music Saturday. While there’s nothing unusual in that, what is special about this concert is the fact that they’ll be playing a set of tonally matched instruments built by the venerable Salt Lake luthier Peter Prier.

The four musicians taking part are violinists David Park and Rebecca Moench; violist Scott Lewis; and cellist Matthew Johnson.

The main work they’ll be playing is Claude Debussy’s String Quartet. There will also be other pieces on the program.

At the concert, Prier will discuss the making of this set of instruments.

The performance takes place Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. in Salt Lake Recital Hall, 320 E. 200 South. There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted. For more information call Peter Prier & Sons Violins at 801-364-3651.
