CROWD FUNDING CAMPAIGN IN FULL SWING FOR MATT STARLING’S RECORDING OF TERRY RILEY’S ‘DORIAN REEDS’

One of Reichel Recommends‘ contributors, Matt Starling (formerly Matt Dixon), is raising money to manufacture CDs, among other costs, for his new recording of Terry Riley’s Dorian Reeds. To that end, he’s set up a crowd funding campaign through Indiegogo.

Dorian Reeds is a composition for solo performer, microphone, two tape recorders and playback. Up to now, the piece has only been recorded using a soprano saxophone. Starling, a brass instrumentalist since childhood, has now recorded the score using a flugelhorn. Its warm, captivating tone and its depth of sound when layered according to the instructions in the score has yielded a recording of the piece unlike any other.
