Brazilian Guitar Quartet

The Brazilian Guitar Quartet (Everton Gloeden, Tadeu do Amaral, Luiz Mantovani and Gustavo Costa) will be playing in Libby Gardner Concert Hall on Jan. 26. Part of the Chamber Music Society of Salt Lake City’s concert series, their program will consist of transcriptions of works by J.S. Bach, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Isaac Albéniz and others.

In their more than 10 years of existence, the Brazilian Guitar Quartet has played over 300 concerts on four continents. Among the highlights of their international concertizing has been engagements in New York’s Metropolitan Museum and 92 Street Y; the National Gallery in Washington, D.C.; the San Luis Obispo Mozart Festival; the Carmel Bach Festival; as well as appearances in Hong Kong, Belgium, Scotland, Denmark, Mexico and Australia.

The group has released four CDs on the Delos label. Two of the albums explore Brazilian music. The other two consist of transcriptions of Albéniz’s “Iberia” and Bach’s four Orchestral Suites.
