BEETHOVEN FESTIVAL PARK CITY’S SPRING CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL TO PRESENT THREE CONCERTS

The Beethoven Festival Park City will present three concerts over two weekends during its annual Spring Chamber Music Festival. The spring festival is held in collaboration with the Utah Valley University Music Department and features several of its music faculty as well as festival co-founder, clarinetist Russell Harlow, and a number of guest artists.

Also joining the roster will be festival favorite Michael Gurt, the 1982 Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition gold medalist.

Concerts will take place at UVU, Temple Har Shalom in Park City and All Saints Episcopal Church in Salt Lake City.

Below is a schedule of concerts. They are free except for the concert at Temple Har Shalom. Tickets for that concert are $20 for general admission and $15 for seniors and students and are available at the door. Music students will be admitted free of charge.   • March 7, 7:30 p.m. — “Chamber Music Showcase.” Music: Shostakovich, Piano Trio; Mendelssohn, Octet for Strings; Carl Frühling, Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano, second and fourth movements; short pieces for violin, cello and piano. Performers: Donna Fairbanks, Blanka Bednarz, Yeagi Kim Broadwell, Paula Bujes, violin; Anna Hoopes, Paula Cho, viola; Cheung Chau, Pedro Huff, cello. (Utah Valley University Science Auditorium)
  • March 8, 3 p.m. — “Artist Showcase Concert.” Music: Villa-Lobos, Duo for Violin and Piano and Sonata for Violin and Piano; Carl Frühling, Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano; short pieces for violin, cello and piano; virtuoso piano works. Performers: Michael Gurt, Jaimie Ruf Gurt, piano; Russell Harlow, clarinet; Paula Bujes, violin; Cheung Chau, Pedro Huff, cello. (Temple Har Shalom, 3700 N. Brookside Ct., Park City)
  • March 13, 7:30 p.m. — “Chamber Music Showcase.” Music: Mozart, Flute Quartet and Clarinet Quintet; Arvo Pärt, Fratres, for violin and guitar; romantic works for clarinet and strings by Schumann, Tchaikovsky and Heinrich Josef Bermann. Performers: Russell Harlow, clarinet; Mary Richards, flute; Jon Yerby, guitar; Donna Fairbanks, Blanka Bednarz, Cynthia Richards, violin; Paula Cho, viola; Cheung Chau, cello.
