2014 CLASSICAL MUSIC GRAMMY WINNERS

Below is the list of winners in the 2014 classical music categories:

  • Best Engineered Album: Maria Schneider, Winter Morning Walks; David Frost, Brian Losch and Tim Martyn, engineers; Tim Martyn, mastering engineer; Dawn Upshaw, Australian Chamber Orchestra and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
  • Producer of the Year: David Frost.
  • Best Orchestral Performance: Sibelius, Symphonies Nos. 1 and 4; Osmo Vänskä, conductor, Minnesota Orchestra.
  • Best Opera Recording: Adès, The Tempest; Simon Keenlyside, Isabel Leonard, Audrey Luna and Alan Oke; Thomas Adès, conductor, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus; Luisa Bricetti and Victoria Warivonchick, producers.
  • Best Choral Performance: Pärt, Adam’s Lament; Tui Hirv and Rainer Vilu; Tonu Kaljuste, conductor, Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Sinfonietta Riga, Talinn Chamber Orchestra, Latvian Radio Choir and Vox Clamantis.
  • Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance: Roomful of Teeth, Brad Wells and Roomful of Teeth.
  • Best Instrumental Solo: Corigliano, Conjurer: Concerto for Percussionist and String Orchestra; Evelyn Glennie, Albany Symphony, David Alan Miller, conductor.
  • Best Vocal Solo: Maria Schneider, Winter Morning Walks; Jay Anderson, Frank Kimbrough, Scott Robinson and Dawn Upshaw, Australian Chamber Orchestra and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
  • Best Compendium: Hindemith, Violinkonzert, Symphonic Metamorphosis, Konzertmusik; Midori, NDR Symphony, Christoph Eschenbach, conductor.
  • Best Contemporary Composition: Maria Schneider, Winter Morning Walks; Jay Anderson, Frank Kimbrough, Scott Robinson and Dawn Upshaw, Australian Chamber Orchestra and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
