The Utah High School Musical Theater Awards is a scholarship program that is designed to reward excellence in theater arts at the high school level. Last year representatives from Utah Festival Opera traveled around the state adjudicating high school productions. Nominated schools and artists will perform and winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on April 30.

The ceremony starts at 7 p.m. and takes place in the Kent Concert Hall on the Utah State University campus. Tickets are $6.50-$18.50 and are available by calling 435-797-8022 or going online to www.ccatickets@usu.edu.

The winners in the best actor and best actress categories Saturday will be sent to New York City to participate in the National High School Musical Theater Awards. While in the Big Apple, they will have the chance to take part in rehearsals and master classes, receive coaching and be introduced to casting agents.
