UTAH CHAMBER ARTISTS’ SPRING CONCERT FEATURES PIANIST RICHARD MARSHALL

Richard Marshall

The Utah Chamber Artists presents its annual Beverley Sorenson Young Artist Concert on May 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Libby Gardner Concert Hall. Tickets are $15 general, $10 students, $50 family pass (family of six) and are available by phone at 801-581-7100 or online at www.utahchamberartists.org.

Featured on the concert is Richard Marshall, who will be the soloist in Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor.

Marshall was for many years the UCA’s pianist, starting when he was 15. He recently completed his master’s degree at Rice University studying with noted pianist Jon Kimura Parker, and he will continue with Parker in the school’s doctoral program.

This is UCA’s 20th anniversary season and music director Barlow Bradford has decided to celebrate the milestone by programming works and presenting performers who have been a part of the ensemble’s concert over the past two decades. To that end, Bradford has also programmed choral pieces by Robert Cundick, Dale Warland, Bernell Hales and J.A.C. Redford. Also on the concert will be Bradford’s “Two Pieces from Leaves of Grass” and Tarik O’Regan’s “Care Charminge Sleepe.”
