TIMPANOGOS SYMPHONY STILL ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR ASPIRING MUSICIANS COMPETITION

Applications are still being accepted for the Aspiring Musicians Competition, a concerto competition for teens sponsored by the Timpanogos Symphony.

The orchestra’s website has a downloadable application form. Applications must be submitted with a $25 entry fee and postmarked no later than Jan. 11. Late applications will be accepted until Jan. 18. A late fee of $10 must be included along with the $25 entry fee.

The competition is open to all musicians up to 18 years of age who currently reside in Utah County. Vocalists and musicians who play the following instruments may participate: piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and harp.

There is also a conducting competition as part of the overall competition. The winner will conduct the Timpanogos Symphony in selected works at the May 3-4 concerts.

The instrumental/vocal competition winners will each receive $200 and also perform at the May concerts.
