RETURN OF BRENTANO QUARTET TOPS LIST OF UPCOMING CONCERTS

Below is a list of this week’s concerts:

  • Salt Lake Children's Choir

    Dec. 2, 8 p.m.: Salt Lake Children’s Choir: Christmas Concert, Ralph Woodward, conductor. Program: Christmas music from around the world. Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple; free (no children under 6); www.childrensing.com.

  • Dec. 3, 7:30 p.m.: Festival Concerts: David Park, violin; Joel Rosenberg, viola; Ubeeng Kueq, piano; Paradigm String Quartet. Program: Paganini, Sonata for Viola and String Quartet; Beethoven, Two Romances; Wieniawski, Scherzo Tarantelle; Mozart, Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola and Piano. First Unitarian Church, 569 S. 1300 East; $10 suggested donation, at the door.
  • Dec. 3, 7:30 p.m.: Utah Chamber Artists: “Christmas 2012: Carols of Burt, Betinis and Bradford;” Program: Christmas music by Alfred Burt and Abbie Betinis; two new pieces by Barlow Bradford, “Was Not Christ Our Savior” and “Christmas Carol,” a setting of a text by 17th century poet George Withers. Libby Gardner Concert Hall, David Gardner Hall, University of Utah; $15 general and $10 student tickets in advance, $17.50 general and $12 student tickets on day of concert; 801-581-7100, www.utahchamberartists.org.

    Dec. 4, 7:30 p.m.: Chamber Music Society of Salt Lake City: Brentano Quartet. Program: Purcell, Fantasias; Beethoven, Quartet in G major, op. 18, no. 2, and Quartet in B flat major, op. 130, with Grosse Fuge finale. Libby Gardner Concert Hall, David Gardner Hall, University of Utah; $25 general, $5 students, at the door; www.cmsofslc.org. There will be a free pre-concert lecture by violinist and University of Utah professor Hasse Borup at 6:45 p.m. in room 270 in David Gardner Hall.
