DEER VALLEY MUSIC FESTIVAL KICKS OFF SATURDAY WITH MUSIC OF MICHAEL JACKSON

The Utah Symphony’s Deer Valley Music Festival begins its ninth season July 14 with a program featuring the music of Michael Jackson. During the month-long festival the symphony will present a wide ranging series of concerts covering both classical and popular music. As in the past, there should be something for everyone, whether it’s an outdoor concert at the amphitheater at Snow Park Lodge, or an indoor chamber performance at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, U-224 at White Pine Canyon Rd., or at Temple Har Shalom, U-224 at Brookside Ct.

  • July 14, 7:30 p.m., Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater – “The Music of Michael Jackson with the Utah Symphony,” Brent Havents, conductor.   • July 18, 8 p.m., St. Mary’s Catholic Church – “Mythic Romance,” Sean Lee, violin, Utah Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Vladimir Kulenovic, conductor. ($25 general, $10 students)
  • July 20, 7:30 p.m., Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater – “Opera Hits! With Utah Opera,” Celena Shafer, Sishel Claverie, Jennifer Babidge, Darrell Babidge, Ryan Macpherson, vocalists, Jerry Steichen, conductor. ($27 lawn seating, $10 student lawn seating, $70 family pass lawn seating [two adults and four children under age of 18 maximum], $38-$65 reserved seating)
  • July 21, 7:30 p.m., Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater – “Kansas with the Utah Symphony,” Larry Baird, conductor. ($32 lawn seating, $15 student lawn seating, $90 family pass lawn seating [two adults and up to four children under the age of 18 maximum]; $60-$85 reserved seating)
  • July 25, 8 p.m., St. Mary’s Catholic Church – “The French Connection,” Utah Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Vladimir Kulenovic, conductor. ($25 general, $10 students)
  • July 27, 7:30 p.m., Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater – “1812 Overture!,” Utah Symphony, Vladimir Kulenovich, conductor. ($27 lawn seating, $10 student lawn seating, $60 family pass [two adults and up to four children under the age of 18 maximum]; $45-$85 reserved seating)

  • Aug. 3, 7:30 p.m., Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater – “Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies,” Utah Symphony, Jerry Steichen, conductor. ($22 lawn seating, $10 student lawn seating, $60 family pass [two adults and up to four children under the age of 18 maximum); $25-$50 reserved seating)
  • Aug. 4, 7:30 p.m., Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater – “Earth, Wind and Fire Guiding Lights Tour 2012 with the Utah Symphony,” Charles Floyd, conductor. (SOLD OUT)
  • Aug. 8, 8 p.m., St. Mary’s Catholic Church – “Beethoven, Haydn and Mozart,” Utah Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Vladimir Kulenovic, conductor. ($25 general, $10 students)
  • Aug. 10, 7:30 p.m., Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater – “The American Songbook with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Utah Symphony,” Mack Wilberg, conductor. ($27 lawn seating, $60-$85 reserved seating)
  • Aug. 11, 7:30 p.m., Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater – “Pink Martini with the Utah Symphony,” Jerry Steichen, conductor. ($37 lawn seating, $80 reserved seating)
