BEETHOVEN FESTIVAL’S SPRING SERIES OPENS TODAY

The Beethoven Festival Park City’s spring edition starts today with a free concert in the Salt Lake City Main Library.  The program includes works by Bruch, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Rimsky-Korsakov and Busoni. Performing will be festival co-directors Leslie Harlow, viola, and Russell Harlow, clarinet. Joining them will be clarinetist Matthew Nelson and pianist Bryan Stanley.

There will be five concerts in all. Below is a schedule of events. Unless otherwise noted, tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for seniors and students and available at the door. For more information log on to the festival website at www.beethovenfestivalparkcity.org.

  • April 13, 12 p.m., Salt Lake City Main Library: Music by Bruch, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Rimsky-Korsakov and Busoni. Performed by: Russell Harlow and Matthew Nelson, clarinet; Leslie Harlow, viola; and Bryan Stanley, piano. (Free)
  • April 14, 3 p.m., Temple Har Shalom, U-224 at Brookside Ct.: Music by Stamitz, Baerman, Schumann, Tchaikovsky and Boccherini. Performed by: Donna Fairbanks and Yeagi Broadwell, violin; Leslie Harlow, viola; Cheung Chau, cello; Jon Yerby, guitar; and Russell Harlow, clarinet.
  • April 16, 7:30 p.m., Utah Valley University, Gunther Trades Building
    Room 507:
    Music by: Handel, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Boccherini and Kodaly. Performed by Donna Fairbanks, Blanka Bednarz and Yeagi Broadwell, violin; Leslie Harlow, viola; Cheung Chau, cello; Russell Harlow and Matthew Nelson, clarinet; Jeb Wallace, horn; Jon Yerby, guitar; and Bryan Stanley, piano. (Free)
  • April 19, 8 p.m., Park City Community Church, U-224 at Bear Hollow Dr.: Music by Bach, Handel, Villa Lobos, Reinecke, Rimsky-Korsakov and Mendelssohn. Performed by: Russell Harlow and Matthew Nelson, clarinet; Jon Yerby, guitar; and Bryan Stanley, piano.
  • April 21, 3 p.m., Temple Har Shalom: Music by Mozart, Piazzolla, Kodaly, Rimsky-Korsakov and Taneyev. Performed by: Donna Fairbanks, Blanka Bednarz and Yeagi Broadwell, violin; Leslie Harlow and Elizabeth Kuefler Wallace, viola; Cheung Chau, cello; Denson Argula, bass; Russell Harlow, clarinet;  and Jeb Wallace, horn.
